Top End sponsored UW-Whitewater goes 4-0 at Gainesville Invitational - 2/9/2009

This past weekend the Whitewater Warhawks -- recently officially sponsored by Top End -- went 4-0 in competition. They battled with Top End's own Paul Schulte and Jeremy Campbell, who both are in their first seasons with the Orlando Magic Wheels. The Warhawks brought their high intensity style of play to the table, led by Joe Chambers and Chris Okon, they were able to defeat all competitors by a combined score of 336-267. The Warhawks averaged an amazing 84 points a game at the tournament.

In the first game of the tournament, the Warhawks faced off with the Orland Magic. The Warhawks came out of the gate a bit slow and started the game down 9-0 to the Magic. However, led by Chris Okons 21 points and 9 assists, the Magic were unable to keep up with the height of Joe Chambers and Nate Hinze.

The Magic came into their second game feeling good about playing the young exuberant Warhawks as well as they did, but fell short to the Dallas Mavericks in an incredibly tight overtime loss.

In the Warhawks second game of the tournament, they faced the Dallas Mavericks also. Chris Okon put on a show that has not been seen in almost 15 years. He hit 13 three pointers, leaving him just one shy of the record set by three point specialist Trooper Johnson. As the weekend progressed, the Warhawks deep bench that is loaded with Paralympic stars from all over the world proved to be too much for the Magic and the Mavericks.

In the final game of the tournament, the Magic showed up and defeated the Dallas Mavericks in a Sunday morning showdown. The leadership and guidance of Top End's own Paul Schulte was without a doubt the motivating factor for the Magic ending the weekend on a high note.

The Warhawks will face their nemesis the University of Illinois this coming weekend as they prepare to host the NIWBT (National Intercollegiate Wheelchair Basketball Tournament) March 12-14.

The Orlando Magic move East later this month to play in the Charlotte regional as they attempt to make an appearance in the Final 4 that will be held in Denver, CO March 19-21.
