Schulte Shootout champion goes to familiar face... - 3/20/2009
As the competition unfolded, early favorites such as the Minnesota Timberwolves Ben Kenyon, and Ryan Hienze of the Milwaukee Heat found themselves on the outside looking in as the final settled. This year's battle would come down between Joe Dixon of the Minnesota Royals, and Top End's own sponsored two-sport star, Dylan Levine from the New Jersey Nets. As the competition began, Levine quickly caught fire and never looked back scoring a dominating 30 points from the field and assuring himself the winner of the 2009 "Shootout." Jim Black, long time Invacare Top End representative, went on record saying that he believed the same athletic prowess that has brought Top End to lock Levine under sponsorship, would be the thing to help him win in this year's competition. After winning the competition and the chair once and for all, the crowd was treated by a demonstration like many have never seen. Paul Schulte himself ran off 6 three-pointers in a row on the way to scoring 48 points and allowing the crowd to see why Paul is one of the most dominate basketball players the sport has ever seen.

This past week the National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA) hosted more than 5 divisions accounting for more than 60 basketball teams from all around the country. Paul Schulte has made a name for himself among the National Junior Wheelchair Basketball Tournament (NJWBT) over the last 4 years by hosting an event known as the "Schulte Shootout." Schulte will allow one 'great' shooter from each of the sixteen teams involved in the tournament and have them compete amongst themselves for the top 4 scores in the shootout. Shooters are rewarded for the distance of the shot by receiving points as little as 1 for lay-ups, all the way to 8 points for three-pointers. Competitors are given 45 seconds to amass as many points as possible in an effort to make it to the final. Top End has made the winner of the 'Shootout' the recipient of a brand new custom fitted "Paul Schulte Signature Series" aluminum basketball chair; measured completely by none other than the man the chair is named after, as well as designed by.
